Push Aequi Ankle Brace

Push Aequi Ankle

EFFICIENT SUPPORT IN THE RIGHT PLACE

The unique feature of Push Aequi is that it only contains rigid material on one side (the medial). By using stiffening in this way, Push Aequi provides the best possible level of stabilisation without inhibiting freedom of movement. The rigid material is used at exactly the spot where the shape of the joint is flattest and best allows this. The stiffening material lies closely against the joint and consists of a hard core.

The rigidity decreases towards the outer edges, leaving the stiffening to act exactly where it is needed. With it`s one-sided stiffening, the Push Aequi assures highly efficient inhibition of the inversion/version movement, leaving adequate freedom for plantar/dorsal flexion. It goes without saying that optimal stability also depends on a good fit of the orthosis to the foot and the fit of the orthosis in the shoe.

PROVEN QUALITY ...

The development of the Push Aequi involved searching for an optimal combination of support and wearer comfort. The most important factor was to ensure minimal use of rigid materials. To achieve this a number of mechanical and functional tests were carried out during the design phase, using existing ankle orthoses with bilateral stiffening as a point of reference.

... WHEN IT COMES TO STABILITY...

Mechanical stability tests were carried out with an ankle tester. This apparatus subjects the ankle of a test subject to inversion/eversion movement, during which the ankle resistance is measured. Results: The tests showed clearly that wearing an ankle orthosis increases ankle stiffness. It also appeared that the Push Aequi provided significantly greater additional stability than the tested orthoses with bilateral stiffening.

... AND FUNCTION

To get the whole picture of function in a dynamic situation, the path of the inversion/eversion angle was charted during running with and without an orthosis.

Results: Here again the analysis of the results showed an increase in ankle stability. The Aequi orthosis caused no functional inhibition of the ankle joint during running.

The diagram compares the test results of the PUSH Aequi with those of ankle ortheses based on bilateral support. 15 subjects participated in the test. The expressed values refer to the additional primary stiffness. The degree of support added by the ankle orthesis can be extrapolated. The higher the figure, the greater the degree of support.
WEARER COMFORT AND EASE OF USE

One of the basic principles of the orthosis is that it provides exceptional wearer comfort in addition to optimal stabilisation. This is achieved by using no rigid materials on the anatomically less flat lateral side. On this side the orthosis consists only of durable foam. This closely follows the natural lines of the ankle and its most significant effect is that the user suffers no functional inhibition of the walking/running action when wearing the Push Aequi. The elasticity of the material contributes to this. The comfort is additionally enhanced by the Aequi`s ergonomic design, its low volume and its extremely low weight. As an added bonus, the Aequi is also very easy for the wearer to apply.

PUSH AEQUI ANKLE BRACE INDICATIONS SIZE

The Aequi is available in several sizes with a separate version for right and left. Use the table below to find the required size.

   Size    Circumference

1    27-31 cm
2    31-34 cm
3    34-40 cm

A good fit is crucial for optimal function. We therefore recommend trying on the orthosis for size.

FITTING

The Aequi is easily fitted by the user. The orthosis is fitted by following a logical sequence of numbers shown on the tapes (symbolised by dice).

Important: The stiffening must always be fitted to the inner side of the foot. The Aequi is worn over the sock, and optimal stabilisation can only be achieved if it is worn with a lace-up shoe.

HYGIENE

The materials used in the orthosis ensure that it is easily washable, so it is easy to keep it clean and hygienic. Machine (delicates) wash or hand wash at max.40ºC.
