PSB Push Ankle Support
Indications:
- (Secondary) prevention of inversion trauma
- Post-treatment of inversion trauma
- Chronic instability
A well fitting trainer is essential for correct support. PSB Ankle braces are not suitable for use in sports such as gymnastics or ballet where soft shoes or even no shoes are worn. Otherwise we know of no conditions where the use of PSB Ankle braces is counter indicated.
Properties:One unique feature is that the PSB Ankle brace provides excellent support for the ankle joint with just a minimum of material. Due to its low volume the sport brace can easily be worn inside shoes or trainers, even combined with shin pads.
An important factor is the carefully designed tape construction, which immediately inhibits the ankle joint if over-inversion threatens, which is the case in most ankle traumas. The stiffener on the inside of the ankle joint bears the tape construction and is supported by the inner sole of the shoe. Consequently the stiffener cannot slip down. An extra stiffener cannot slip down. An extra stiffener on the outside of the ankle joint is not necessary because the tilting movement on that side is breaked by the tape contruction. The pale blue power net fitted around the ankle provides another benefit. It exerts the requisite pressure, which can be individually adjusted. thanks to the silicon edges the PSB Ankle brace stays put and the Tactel® aquaotor on the inside ensures that perspiration is wicked away from the skin. As a consequence of the wicking function and its vapour permeability the PSB Ankle brace always feels comfortable.

Advice on measuring for size:
PSB Ankle braces are available in four size: small, Medium, Large, Extra Large, and are different for the left and right ankles. in order to measure the correct size, the entire instep circumference must be measured, i.e. over the instep and behind the heel. you can use a normal tape measure for measuring or a special PSB tape measure, which shows the sizes in different colors. the table shows the fitting range of the various sizes. To ensure you have the correct size it is always advisable to try the brace on.
| Small | Medium | Large | X-Large |
| 27-30cm | 30-33 | 33-36 | 36-40 |
The following factors are important for correct measuring and fitting:
- the brace sock must sit comfortably around the ankle joint. It must not feel tight.
- Once the brace has been tightened the length of the tapes must be such that there is plenty of adhesion surface for the hard velcro on the soft velcro surface of the same tape. If this is not possible you may need a different size. good functionality depends on an adequate adhesion surface.
- if an instep circumference measurement falls into the border area between two sizes, we recommend first trying the smaller size. The support effect of the brace is enhanced by a closer fit.
- In the beginning the close fit of the PSB Ankle brace can make it a little difficult to get on. The hole in the brace where the heel fits through can be useful for pulling the brace sock. Make sure the velcro tape that runs over the foot is sufficiently loosened bofore stepping in.
- The stiffener must always be positioned centrally under the heel and should never be allowed to project too far forward into the hollow of the foot. if this happens the brace becomes uncomfortable to wear and its functionality is partially lost.
- the foot should always be flat on the floor when the tapes are fitted. The foot and lower leg should form an angle of 90 degrees. The back tape marked ' ·' must always be fastened first. this is done by pulling the tape through the rear eye of the stiffener and fastening it in place.
- Next comes the front tape marked ' · ·', which is fastened in the same way. Make sure the stiffener runs along behind the ankle bone. if the user feels pressure against the ankle bone this means that the tapes need adjusting or the sock needs to be pulled further towards the heel. when the two tapes have been fastened the stiffener should be vertical.
- Finally the pale blue power net is fastened. This is done most easily by holding the part with the soft velcro against the ankle and tightening the end with the hard velcro.
PSB Knee braces are easy to care for and can be machine washed at a maximum of 40°C. Higher temperatures can damage the elastic materials. For the same reason it is inadvisable to tunble dry or dry on a radiator.
For the optimal care of the PSB Patella brace it is important that:- the sport brace is not left lying around wet
- the velcro is always fastened before washing.
- the stiffener is removed from the sport brace.
- the sport brace is washed in the supplied washing net.
The lower edge of the plastic stiffener must always be worn under the heel. In such a way that the edge of the heel fits in the edge of the stiffener. if the sock on the PSB Ankle brace is not pulled back fully, the bottom of the stiffener can exert pressure on the sensitive hollow of the foot. the user could find this uncomfortable.
The stiffener must not touch the medial malleolus (ankle bone). If this does occur, it can easily be alleviated by pulling the sock further towards the heel and refixing tapes, pulling the tape back tighter.
The stiffener must always be on the inside of the ankle joint and the tapes must always be sufficiently tightened. if the stiffener is incorrectly positioned or if the tapes are too slack the PSB ankle brace will lose much of its support action.
When the brace is used for the first time pressure may be felt under the heel even though the brace has been properly fitted. experience shows that this will disappear after a while.
Well fitting trainers are essential to the brace's correct function. PSB ankle braces are not suitable for use during activities carried without shoes or with soft shoes.
Functioning can be impaired by wear of parts or at seams. in case of complaints always check to see whether the PSB Ankle brace is in good condition.
