Sub Occipital Soother
Summary
Use by lying on (body weight) the device positioned on occiput to relieve neck tension, headache. Can induce (Osteopathic techniques of) inhibition and articulation. The SOS can also be used for trigger points/self massage between back or shoulders. Comes with CD.
Great for relieving symptoms of Spasmodic Torticollis
Health professionals such as Osteopaths, Chiropractors and Physiotherapists will agree that the daily effects of gravity bring forward aches and strains upon the body that a correct posture will help alleviate.
Importantly the SOS can be taken anywhere, to work, on holiday or even used in the car. Used only for 20 minutes at a time, the SOS is always just an arms length away.
The SOS is not a pillow. The firm construction ensures that after one or two sessions those initial tender spots will experience the soothing release of pressure and discomfort.
In 3-4 months of using the SOS you will begin to find ways in which this simple device can be used even more effectively. You may start to understand that your back is 'rigged' for gravity and its structure and function are linked to your emotional and physical well being.
An Osteopathic technique called articulation (the passive movement of the joints) can clearly be felt when the SOS is used whilst rotating the shoulder in the self massage position. This articulation encourages the correct blood flow to the affected area, which is what ultimately heals the condition.
Another Osteopathic technique called inhibition, is the gentle pressure that the SOS applies to the muscle to inhibit spasm and rigidity. In simply placing the SOS along your postural muscles and sitting against it, this inhibition process is now working. Muscle pain and spasm will now be eased away.
Self Massage
For the price of a one hour initial massage consultation, you could get 100 hrs of self massage use with the SOS!!! All the SOS techniques interrelate. For self massage, it is usually best to sit in a chair or on the couch. A bit of experimentation will work this out for you.
You can work the spinal muscles from the pelvis to the neck, place the fingertip ridge ALONGSIDE the spine with palm section towards your side. Rock slowly back and forwards, onto the fingertips to feel the pressure, adjust the position and then find the best angles to drag the SOS across the spinal muscles. When working between the shoulders, rotate your shoulder girdle clockwise and anti-clockwise. You will feel the fingertips pressing into tender muscles and tendons

DE-STRESS, POWER REST, EASE BLOOD PRESSURE
The SOS is not only a great headache healer but it is a magnificent helper for people with a busy life style. You can use the SOS to help normalise your blood pressure, to calm down or simply to get some power rest. Use the lying position for the recommended 15-20 mins. (Step 3) Do NOTHING, just relax and do your own personal choice of deep breathing or meditation style concentration or simply ease towards sleep ! (If you go to sleep on the SOS just make sure you have a wake up call in 20 min MAX) People working on computers will like to use the SOS during their day to help control posture and help prevent fatigue and build up of postural strains associated with maintained posture. |

Dr Nelson developed the SOS from an original Osteopathic technique called the Sub Occipital Release. This Technique is used for relaxing the soft tissues of the upper neck, giving a much easier flow of fluid in and out of the cranium. By using the moulded hands and palms of Dr Nelson, you are able to perform this technique at home and also give yourself a good massage to most spinal muscles. Relieving headache and stress symptoms WITHOUT THE USE OF DRUGS.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
