Foot Function Key Features
Sagittal Drop/1st Ray
The first metatarsophalangeal joint is an important component of the normal function of the foot during gait. Factors that restrict motion include conditions such as Hallux Rigidus and Hallux Abducto Valgus. The sagittal drop is designed to allow the 1st MTPJ to increase ground reaction forces during the mid stance phase of gait. This facilitates dorsiflexion of the first Ray, which enables the 3 auto-support mechanisms to function (windlass mechanism, calcaneo-cubiod and locked wedge effect). Thus creating power for forward motion.
Calcaneo-Cuboid Arch
The calcaneo-cuboid arch of the insole supports the concavoconvex joint. This feature provides foot stability to enhance high and low gear leverage, which pre-tightens the plantar apeonerosis, and locks the joint in order to encourage weight flow to the 1st. This provides stability to the lateral whic hallows the Hallux to become stable for propulsion.
Rearfoot Skive Control
The undernerath skive helps with the control of pronation. It has been designed to facilitate the easy addition of varus or valgus postings/wedgings.
Medial Arch Support
This provides support to the medial longitudinal and transverse arches, which enhance comfort levels through the gait cycle.
Concave Heel Cup
The heel cup has been groud to provide stability, support and balance, while enhancing fit.
