Cho Pat ITB Strap

Cho-Pat's new I.T.B. Strap will apply compression at the area of discomfort to help relieve Iliotibial Band Syndrome. The strap uses compression to help prevent the snapping or friction of the iliotibial band over the bony prominence just above and outside of the knee joint or further up the leg at the hip joint allowing the healing process to begin.

Benefits

  • Effective and functional
  • Easy to apply and adjust
  • Washable and durable
  • Inexpensive

The I.T.B. Strap is recognized as an effective addition to the treatment procedures for Iliotibial Band Syndrome. As such, while it may alleviate the symptoms of Iliotibial Band Syndrome, the cause of the affliction may still be present. It is suggested the user seek evaluation and treatment by a medical professional in conjunction with the band's use.

Ideally, the user should wear the strap nearest the area of most discomfort. However, the user can wear it approximately 2" - 3" in either direction with beneficial results.

Warning: Wear tight enough to attain relief but not impede circulation and normal leg movement. Do not wear to bed.

What is Iliotibial Band Syndrome

The Iliotibial Band is composed ofa thick band of fibrous tissue that begins at the iliac crest (above the hip joint), runs laterally along the leg and inserts at the lateral tibial terbucle (just below the knee joint and towards the outside).

Its purpose is to maintain the knee in the extended poition, however, if the band is tight, it will tend to snap back and forth (upon extending and flexing the leg). over the femoral condopyle (the bony prominence just above and toward the outside of the knee joint) and/or further up the leg at the hip joint. As a result of the continued friction upon the illitibial band, a bursitis can develop at the location of the friction and cuase extreme dicomfort and some degree of immobility.

How does the Cho Pat ITB Strap work?

The Cho Pat ITB Strap will apply compression at the area of discomfort, usually above the knee joint or the upper thigh, to help prevent the snapping or friction of the iliotibial band over the bony prominence.
