 Uses of TENS Machines

T.E.N.S or Trans Cutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation has long been used an effective method of pain relief for chronic, intractable pain and for acute post surgical and post traumatic pain. More recently, it has also been used for obstetric pain relief.

The physiological and therapeutic effects of electrical stimulation when applied to innervated muscles can be summarised as follows:

  • Muscle strengthening in healthy and atrophied muscle
  • Fascilitation of motor control
  • Maintenance or improvement of joint range of motion
  • Increase muscle metabolism, blood flow, venous and lymph flow
  • Reduction of oedema
  • Accelerated tissue healing
  • Gate effect on both A delta (fast) and C (slow), pain fibres in the posterior horn, due to stimulation of mechanoreceptors
  • Morphine-type effect on the C Fibre system

TENS can be used as an adjunct in the treatment of neurogenic pain; fibromyalgia; post-operative and obstetric pain; for use after sports injuries and in chronic musculoskeletal disorders.

The PhysiPod range features two models —a dual channel and a four channel. The 2 channel model is a combined TENS/EMS machine, whilst the 4 channel model is TENS function only.

Both are of sleek and modern design, with large LCD screens, ensuring accurate output and are suitable for a wide range of applications. Small and compact in design the PhysiPod TENS allow you to take them anywhere, for treatment of pain relief at any time.

 PhysiPod 2 Channel TENS & EMS

This 2 channel digital combined TENS/EMS unit has 10 pre-set programs (P1 - P10) and 10 user adjustable programs (U1 - U10), including 6 modes, on/off; standby; preset mode treatment time user preset mode; program mode; and adjustable mode.

The 2 channels work independantly of each other and can work simultaneously. The default setting is a combined TENS/EMS setting for the relief of pain. It has a belt clip and can be easily attached to one's clothing so you can move around during treatment.

The large LCD display ensures accuracy and is easy to use.

 PhysiPod 4 Channel TENS Machine

This unit is a 4 Channel digital TENS with 42 preset programs, designed to cater for all electrical neuromuscular stimulation applications. The 4 Channels can work independantly of each other and allow you to treat a larger area in one application. Up to 8 electrodes can be used at one time, thus saving you time and effort when covering larger areas, or multi-site injuries. This unit is easy to use. The clear LCD display, with back lighting, ensures accuracy and ease of program selection.

Each program produces different effects suited to a specific application. For example, it can be used for the following:

Frequency 2 - 120 Hz
Intensity 0mA - 60mA into 1000ohm load (60 step, each channel adjusted seperately)
Pulse Amplitute 50 - 400 µs
Power Supply 4 x AAA Batteries

Delivery Times

Please note that your order will be processed within 24 hours from the first weekday (Mon-Fri). Whilst we endeavour to send your goods quickly, we do not guarantee overnight delivery. If goods are not in stock, you will be advised by either phone or email.

Orders over $100

All orders over $100 are now being shipped by eParcel where a signature will be required for delivery. Please keep this in mind when selecting an appropriate delivery address. A commercial location is preferred, but a residential address is also acceptable if the delivery can be received.
