Adjustable Aluminum Walking stick
Why people choose our walking stick
1. Quality Materials: Sportstek's Adjustable Walking stick is made from a lightweight aluminum compound to make it both extra strong and easy to carry around for elderly persons. The handle is made from a rubber material that is soft on the hands but will not degrade over long term use.
2. Good design: Our walking stick is ideal if you require that extra bit of help to remain mobile and on your feet. The handles and stick are designed to provide optimal support with the least amount of effort during your walking gait.
3. Ferrules - replacement ferrules (the rubber stops on the end of your stick that come into contact with the ground) are available for purchase seperately from this website (Click here to order ferrules) or by calling us
Sovereign handle
The center of the handle is barrel to fit the palm, whilst the front tapers to accommodate the fingers and encourage the user to point the index finger along the stem. It then flares out to prevent the hand from slipping. An 8° angle allows gripping and extending of the stick without flexing of the wrist. The stick will also 'hook' over the arm, a chair back, walking frame, doorknob or bedhead etc.
Walking with the Stick
Walk in a normal manner placing the stick on the ground at the same time as the affected leg. Remember the stick should normally be held in the hand opposite the affected leg. Remember, regular walking with elderly patients helps stave off conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease
Chairs: Getting Up
The stick should be near the arm of the chair. Lean forward and with the hands on the arm of the chair, push forward and stand up using the stick for support
Chairs: Sitting Down
When returning to the chair, turn around, feel the chair behind the legs, place your hands on the arms of the chair, bend forward and lower yourself gently into the chair. The stick can be held or rested nearby.
SIZING & Correct adjustments
When the stick is measured correctly the user should be able to maintain an upright posture with the elbow slightly flexed. In this way, body weight is taken through your stick by pushing down when walking.
There are two sizes - Medium and Large. To choose your correct size, hang your hand down beside your leg and make sure your elbow is only slightly angled, then measure the distance from your palm to the ground. The stick is adjustable, so the measurement does not need to be absolutely perfect.
| Size | Stick height (mm) |
| Medium | 690 - 940 |
| Large | 830 - 1080 |
